Lemon balm

Also known as lemon balm, this perennial plant can reach 80 cm in height and 50 cm in diameter. It has a strong lemon aroma when rubbed. It flowers between June and September and these blooms are very attractive to bees. It is a plant with many medicinal properties, and is considered to be anti-inflammatory and antioxidant, to aid digestion and to have a calming effect. Very easy to propagate, either from cuttings or seed. If the plant is to be harvested, it should be pruned close to the ground in order to prevent pests, as it is very susceptible to aphids (plant lice) and white fly.
